With all the latest and greatest from the world of robot vacuums, the decision to get one is no longer if you should get one, but rather which one to choose. Essentially, all the top-end models now have everything, they can vacuum, mop, empty themselves, clean their own mop heads and even do it all with built-in smarts that help them figure out where to go around your house. So we’re at the stage where we need to decide which one will work best for our specific place, the way we clean, and our budget. Two of the new all-in-one robot vacuum and mop combos from eufy, the eufy Omni C28 and the eufy Omni E28, look pretty much identical at first. Both come with an advanced mopping system called the HydroJet, can empty themselves, and have auto-wash and dry functions for the mop, plus really strong suction power and AI-powered navigation.
But when you really examine all the features and put them to the test in a real home, it’s clear that the main difference between them isn’t just that the E28 is a C28 with some minor improvements. The E28 actually offers several key improvements that make it better for everyday use and more versatile. The main thing that stands out is the FlexiOne Portable Deep Cleaner. Essentially, part of the charging dock on the E28 can be removed and used as a hand-held cleaner for getting into tight spaces like stairs, and dealing with stains on your carpets and upholstered furniture. This is especially useful if you’ve got kids, a big family, or a lot of pet hair. The question is, is this new stuff worth the extra cost?

Design & Build Quality
If you take a close look at the eufy Omni C28 and eufy Omni E28, you might think they’re basically the same thing since they have the same overall style. But once you take a closer look, you notice some key differences. Essentially, the C28 is all about providing a high-quality cleaning experience at a more affordable price, while the E28 takes that and adds even more premium touches and capabilities.
Both of these vacuums have the typical clean and simple design that we’ve come to expect from high-end robot vacuums. No flashy lights or super-modern looks here, just a low-key style that won’t draw too much attention. They’re really versatile, so whether your home is decorated in a modern way, has an industrial feel, or something more classic, either one will fit right in. Each of the robots has a strong, rounded shape with smooth curves that let it move around furniture without looking too big and clunky. And the matte finish on them is more than just about looking good; it also does a great job of hiding dust, scuffs, and other marks. Since these vacuums live in the open, not in a closet like some others, this is a big deal.
After several months of daily use, they still look like new. When you look at how they’re put together, it’s clear that eufy didn’t go for a “more is better” approach. They’re stable and look solid; the panels fit together snugly and there aren’t any gaps. When you press on the top of the robot, it doesn’t flex or creak. And when it bumps into things while it’s working, which inevitably happens, there’s no noise or movement that will unnerve you. Good build quality is all about the things you don’t see, like when a robot doesn’t make any annoying sounds or move around erratically.
The front of each vacuum has a special kind of bumper that’s like many other high-end models. It uses a spring to absorb minor bumps and protect both the robot and any nearby furniture. It has some give, but isn’t too soft, so it will tell the robot where something is, without causing any damage. With both of these, some type of contact with a chair or table leg is going to happen during each use, so having a good bumper is a must for long-term reliability. Up top, the small tower of sensors gives them their unique look.
Some people might worry that a higher sensor will make it harder for the robot to get under low furniture, but this is a small price to pay for the better cleaning that comes with LiDAR. Plus, the sensor itself is part of the overall design and doesn’t look like an afterthought. If you flip them over, you’ll see that the inside is also well-organized. It’s easy to do basic tasks like clean or replace parts, and the main brush, side brush, and other key parts can all be removed without tools. eufy gets that owning one of these is more than just buying a product, it’s about being able to take care of it and maintain it. It makes a big difference when some other brands require a lot more effort to do the same things.
Eufy also made it easier to deal with one of the biggest pain points of owning a robot vacuum: hair. It will still wrap around the main brush and need to be cut with scissors from time to time, but the special anti-tangle design on both of these models makes it a lot less of an issue. You end up not having to do it as often. Their wheels are another area where they show a lot of thought has gone into the design. They’re big and rubber, so they can get over most door sills and go from one type of floor to another. On low-pile carpets, they’ll even climb on by themselves. And because each one can move a bit on its own, they stay on the ground better and this also makes the overall feel of the robot a lot more stable.
So, in use, it doesn’t feel unsteady or awkward like some other models. It’s also worth noting that the dustbin is built in and comes out easily when it needs a clean. Since the self-emptying dock will do most of the work, this isn’t something you’ll have to do very often. But when you do, the way it comes out is secure but also easy to take off. It’s another example of eufy paying attention to the small things that add up.
The part where the two models really diverge is in their respective docks. The one that comes with the C28 is pretty amazing. It not only charges the battery, but also gets rid of the dirt and debris from each run, refills the water tank, and even cleans and dries the mop head. This makes taking care of your robot a lot less work. Most of what you’ll need to do is empty the dirty water and add new clean one, and replace the container when it’s full. The dock itself feels solid and is made well. The water and dust containers fit in without much effort and the lid closes properly.
Although it takes up some space, it’s actually a bit more compact than some other all-in-one stations on the market. But then there’s the E28. It does everything the C28’s dock does, and then some. It has a part called the FlexiOne Portable Deep Cleaner, which essentially means you won’t need to buy a separate machine for getting stains out of furniture or deep-cleaning your carpets. It’s part of the dock and you can take it with you.
Check out how cool this is, from a design point of view. You can do more than one thing with the docking station. It’s not just for one job, it does two: both the automatic and the thorough by-hand cleaning. The handheld part feels good in the hand and the parts that attach and detach are not flimsy, even though they can come off. When you’re not using it, you just put it back on the main base, and your whole system looks nice and neat. Also, because of this, you actually need less room for storing all the different parts and their chargers.
Most people who buy a robot vacuum and a hand vacuum and a portable one for the rugs have to find space for all those things and where to plug them in. So, essentially, this one makes everything a bit less of a mess and more organized. They’ve also thought about how to hide the wires. They go behind the unit, which keeps the front looking tidy. It might not sound like a big deal, but cables can really take away from how nice something looks, and these two products are no exception. It’s clear that they made them with the idea that you’ll use them for many years.
Parts like the filter, the side brushes, the mop heads, and the bag or bagless container will be easy to replace. The doors to get inside them are strong and won’t break easily. Everything was probably checked twice to make sure it was made correctly before it was sent out. The best thing I can say about both is that they don’t feel like they were just made to last for a short time and then be thrown away. Some smart home stuff concentrates on having lots of fancy features rather than making sure it will last. But these two are like the good, long-lasting kind of home appliances you expect to use all the time. The C28 already is up there with the best of the high-end robot cleaners, and the E28 is even better because of its fancy new way of doing things and its really useful extra feature.
Navigation Intelligence & Mapping
A good navigation system is probably more important than a super powerful engine when it comes to a vacuum. If a vacuum does a great job of sucking up dirt and debris but has a bad sense of where it is and where it’s going, then it will end up missing some spots, get stuck under the couch, or get tangled in things like chair legs.
On the other hand, a robot with okay suction but with a really good sense of direction can do a much better job by finding the most efficient way to get around and use less battery. Both the eufy C28 and the eufy E28 are at the high end of the scale when it comes to navigation, they both make a detailed map of the house and plan the best route to take. They do this with a special type of sensor on top that uses a laser to figure out how far apart things are. This makes them very effective in any kind of lighting, whether it’s bright and sunny or dark. They can even do it without relying on just one or two cameras and some basic bump sensors like many cheaper models do.
When you first let one of these vacuums loose, you’ll notice that it doesn’t just wander around randomly. It does a slow, methodical sweep of the room and creates a map. Over about a minute, it gets a pretty good sense of where everything is in the space, including the walls, doorways, and big pieces of furniture. Then, it uses this map as the basis for all its future cleanings. Watching this happen is actually pretty cool. These two vacuums are both very good at drawing a map of the rooms. They get the big stuff like the shape and size of the room right, and the smaller details like a kitchen island or a fireplace are also shown in the right place. Some people have very complicated floor plans with lots of connected rooms, but these robots aren’t fazed. They don’t require any help from you once the initial map is made.
Down the line, the robot will know exactly where it’s been and where it still needs to go without having to start all over from scratch. Both of these vacuums clean in an organized and deliberate way. They break down the room into smaller parts and then clean each part in a single, smooth line. This has a couple of benefits, it makes sure that no area gets cleaned twice, which would be a waste of time and battery power. Also, it makes the whole process a bit faster and more fun to watch. It looks like the robot knows where it’s going instead of just feeling its way around. It’s also a big plus that you can save more than one map on each of these models.
If you have a two-story house, you can set up one map for each floor and the robot will know which one it’s on and follow that one without having to relearn the whole space. So, you could keep the same robot on both levels. The app lets you customize the map too. You can divide up the rooms or merge them if they’re not quite right. You can give each one a name like “kitchen” or “living room” to make it easier to tell the robot where and when you want it to clean. That makes it a lot more convenient. Instead of telling the whole house to be cleaned, you can just ask it to do the kitchen after dinner or the hallway after a rain. Pretty handy. You can also set up virtual boundaries so the robot won’t go in certain areas. This is especially good for people with pets who don’t want the robot to mess with their food and water bowls. Or, you can block off kids’ play areas that are full of toys.
You could also protect expensive or sensitive things from being moved. And if you want to keep your carpets from getting wet, there are no-mop zones. This way, the hard floors can be mopped but the carpets stay dry. All of this can be done without using any of those old-fashioned magnetic strips. But what really sets the E28 apart is its more developed ability to recognize and get around common household objects. Most people’s homes are not spotless. There are shoes near the doors, cord and plug in the floor, and kids’ things turn up just about everywhere. An average robot might eventually find its way around them, but not before it bumps into them a few times. That just takes up a lot of time and increases the chance that it will push something around or get tangled in a cord.
A more advanced version of the robot, called the E28, is even better at finding and identifying things that are in its way before it has to bump into them. So instead of discovering an object by bumping into it, the E28 can see it and change its path. This makes it easier and less likely to stop suddenly while it’s cleaning. This is especially helpful in homes where there are lots of people and kids who often leave their toys all over the living room. An older, less clever robot might keep trying to go over the big toys or push the small ones around until it finally decides to turn around.
The E28, though, is more on the ball, it sees the obstacles and goes around them with more confidence. As a result, the whole cleaning process seems more planned out and doesn’t get interrupted as much. People who have pets will also like these improvements. Pet food and water bowls, pet toys, and where your pet likes to sleep all add to the list of things that a robot needs to work around. Neither one of these machines is perfect, but the E28 is better at avoiding these things and doesn’t run into them when it doesn’t have to. That makes for a more efficient and less noisy and less of a disturbance to you while it’s working. Both of these vacuums plan out the best way to get through your house. Once they have a map of where everything is, they don’t just clean one room and then another in no particular order. They figure out the most efficient route that uses the least amount of power and makes them finish the job faster. So they don’t have to run all over the house multiple times, which saves time and also gives them more power for bigger houses.
The way the robot knows where it is and what it’s done is connected to how it decides where to go. If a job takes more power than the robot has, both of them can go back to their base, charge up some more, and then pick up where they left off. This might seem like a small thing, but it actually needs the right kind of computer brain and a good sense of where it is to work right. If it forgot where it’s already cleaned, it would have to do some of that part again or miss some spots. But it doesn’t happen with these two. When it comes to going around pieces of furniture, like a dining chair or a coffee table, they’re both pretty good. They get up close to do the edges so they can really clean them, but they don’t bump into the furniture if they can help it. They might still touch the legs a bit if the piece has thin or shiny legs, but that’s about it.
Ramps and stairs are also a problem for any kind of robot, but both of these have special look-down sensors that stop them from falling. Most high-end robot vacuums have these, but they’re especially important. In real life, both of our test models walk up to the edge of the stairs, decide it’s not safe, and go around. You don’t need to put up a barrier to stop them. They also know when they’re on a hard floor and when they’re on carpet. When they’re vacuuming, they can make the machine suck up more stuff from the carpet. When they’re mopping, they take care not to get the mop too wet where there’s carpet.
All this makes for a more seamless experience without needing you to watch over them all the time. If you move one of these or block its way, it can usually find its place in the map and keep on working without having to start over. This is especially handy if you need to move the robot for some reason while it’s in the middle of a cleaning job. Finally, the app that comes with the E28 shows you exactly what it’s cleaned and where it is right now. You can also look at the map of the cleaned areas and decide on new cleaning plans based on what you see. The app is user-friendly, so even if you’ve never used a robot vacuum before, you’ll have no problem figuring out how to change how it works.
Vacuuming Performance
It’s all about how well a robot vacuum can clean that matters most to most people who buy one. Sure, having a self-emptying station, or the ability to navigate on its own and wash its own mop, is cool, but if it can’t pick up dirt and other small stuff from the floor, then those features don’t even matter. Luckily, the eufy Omni C28 and the eufy Omni E28 live up to what you’d expect from high-end robot vacuums. They are made to take care of not just the small stuff like dust and food bits, but also pet hair and bigger pieces of junk, all without requiring much from the person using it.
While they’re basically the same, the E28 has a few more tricks up its sleeve and does a bit of a better overall job. One of the first things you’ll see when using these every day is how each one approaches different kinds of mess. Super fine dust and dirt, which builds up in no time on wood or tile, is no problem for either one. In fact, after making a room look spotless, running either one will still fill up the dustbin, which shows just how much of that kind of dust there really is around the house. People who have allergies will especially appreciate this since getting rid of all that dust makes a big difference in the overall cleanliness and health of your home. Both of these robots do great on hard floors.
On wood, tile, and other non-carpeted surfaces, they can get the job done with no issues. Hardwood, laminate, and other hard floors are easy for them because there’s not much for them to push around. So, they can just pick up any mess, like crumbs or dirt from outside, in one pass. Some lower-end models have trouble with this, but not these two, they have enough oomph under the hood to suck up the big pieces right away. Their way of cleaning also makes them even more effective. Instead of just going around at random, they make a pattern and go back and forth in the same places to make sure everything gets cleaned. This makes them a lot more reliable and leaves less behind for you to do over again.
When you watch either one clean a big open room, you can see just how much better they do it now. It’s like they have a plan, not just a bunch of random movements like older models. The side brush on each one helps a lot too. It’s on the front of the robot and helps push any dirt and dust that collects along the edges and in the corners towards the main part of the vacuum. No robot is perfect, but this does a pretty good job of making it easier to get those hard-to-reach spots. When you move from hard floors to carpet, though, things get a bit tougher. Dirt and other stuff gets stuck in the carpet, so you need a stronger and more effective way to get it out. Both of these can tell when you have a carpet and will automatically give it a little extra oomph to make sure it gets clean. This also helps save the battery on the harder-to-clean hard floors where it’s not needed.
On short-pile carpets, they work really well. They pull out all the normal dirt and mess that people leave behind. They move at a steady pace and the special brush inside the robot moves the carpet fibers around to loosen the dirt and then the main suction pulls it out. Because of this, daily cleaning on high-traffic areas really helps, as the dirt doesn’t have as much chance to sink in as deeply. They can also handle medium-pile carpets with no problem. Thicker carpet is a bit more of a challenge, but they still get the job done. Dust that settles way down in the carpet is also picked up by doing a cleaning every day. It may not be as good as a regular vacuum, but it’s a lot better than not cleaning it at all!
Both the Omni C28 and E28 have a real problem, they don’t do very well on deep pile or shag carpets. It’s hard for them to get around on them and push through the thick, fluffy fibers, and it’s hard for the air to get to the really embedded dirt. Essentially, they’re not a full replacement for a big, real vacuum, but they are good for doing some of the easier parts of the job, so you don’t have to do as much with the big vacuum. One place where they really shine, though, is in how well they keep going. A lot of robot vacuums do okay at first, but then they start to get slower and less effective as their collection bin fills up with dirt and their brushes get clogged with hair.
However, because both of these ones can empty their bin automatically when it needs to be done, their suction stays more consistent. They vacuum for a longer time without losing steam. Tangles of hair are especially tough for most robot vacuums. Long or pet hair can wrap itself around the main spinning part and clog the machine, or form big clumps that block the air from coming out. To fight this, eufy came up with a special brush design that makes it harder for hair to get all wrapped up in the first place. People with long-haired family members will especially notice the difference. It won’t eliminate the need for any maintenance at all, but it will make it much less of a hassle.
People who have pets will see even bigger benefits. Dogs and cats shed a lot, and they shed most when they’re getting a new coat. This loose hair ends up all over the house, under the furniture, along the baseboards, and inside the piles of the carpet. Both of these eufy models do a great job of taking care of this. If you clean your floors every day, they’ll stay a lot cleaner for a longer period and look nicer too. Larger pieces of stuff like pet food, cereal, or small rocks also test how well a vacuum can pick up. The C28 and E28 can handle all of this stuff easily. They suck it up without spilling it back out. Their path also makes sure they collect the big stuff instead of just pushing it around. Kitchens are particularly messy because they get a wide variety of things on the floor, like flour, sugar, and other small particles. Both of these vacuums do a good job of dealing with all of these different kinds of messes.
They have no trouble with any of the various textures and sizes. They don’t need special cleaning modes for each one. Cleaning under and around the major pieces of furniture in your home is something else the C28 and E28 do well. Since they’re on the shorter side, they can fit under a lot of things that most other vacuums can’t. So they can get to those areas that people usually miss and make the whole house feel cleaner. And, of course, this also means less work for you to move the heavy furniture around. Another thing that sets the two apart isn’t just how well they clean, but how smart they are about it. While both do a great job, the E28 is a bit better at thinking about where it should and shouldn’t go and how it should do its job. It doesn’t just follow a set pattern; it looks at the room and makes more informed decisions about the best way to clean.
For example, in a room with lots of obstacles, the E28 doesn’t waste time trying to get to places it can’t reach. It changes its plan and keeps going without missing a spot. It gets all the floor. This doesn’t make it clean faster, but it does mean more of the time is actually spent on cleaning and less on moving around. Narrow edges and corners are another area where the E28 has a slight edge. It stays right up against the wall and other pieces of furniture, so it picks up a bit more with each pass. The difference isn’t huge, but over the long term, it adds up.
Both of the eufy vacuums are quiet for their size. They make a steady, unobtrusive humming noise that soon becomes background noise. On higher or more aggressive settings, they get a bit louder, but even then, it’s not the ear-piercing whine of many regular vacuum cleaners. Also, they’re good at looking after their own batteries. They figure out just how much suction is needed to get the job done without using up all their power. If a single cleaning session takes too long, they just go back to their charging base, top up, and then pick up where they left off. So even bigger homes get a proper, one-pass clean without you having to do anything. Overall, there’s not much to complain about with the way they perform. The C28 is a top-of-the-line type of clean that will work for almost everyone, and the E28 takes that and adds some extra smarts to make it even better. It’s not a huge step up, but it is a noticeable one, which is why the E28 comes out as the slightly better, more advanced model.
Mopping Capability
More and more people are choosing high-end models, especially because of one thing: the fact that they come with built in mops. In the past, most robot vacuums had little more than a piece of gauze attached and would just kind of…well, dampen the floor a bit. They weren’t really pushing enough on the floor or controlling the amount of water they used, so they only picked up loose dust, nothing more. And they really struggled with things that had dried or were sticky. Things like that were already clean, and then got dirty again.
But the eufy Omni C28 and E28 do it differently. They have something called the HydroJet mopping system, which actually cleans the mop as it moves around and is made to give you a much better result at the end. One of the main ways they do this is by not just getting the mop all soggy and dirty as they go along. With other robots, you’d wet the pad before you start and then it just gets dirtier and dirtier until you’re basically just spreading the yuck around the floor instead of picking it up. But the HydroJet system keeps the part that touches the floor clean.
So the whole time the machine is working, it’s using a relatively fresh piece of the pad. That makes a big difference, especially if you have a lot of space to clean. Other mops tend to work okay for the first room but then they get worse and worse as they go. When they finally get to the parts of the house where there’s the most action (like the kitchen and the hall), they start to just smear the gunk around instead of removing it. The C28 and E28 do a much better job all the way through because they give the pad a good rinse while they’re working. Also, the way these two use their mops makes them more effective. If the pad just glides along and doesn’t press down too hard on the floor, it can pick up some of the free floating dust.
But if you want to get rid of things that have dried on there or are all sticky, then you need a bit more oomph. The HydroJet does that. It makes the pad push against the floor firmly enough to dislodge most of the everyday grime, but not so hard that it will scratch or damage your floor. For wood floors, both of these machines do really well. After a quick once-over with a vacuum, any of the fine stuff that’s left behind is easy to wipe away. And light footprints and all the general day-to-day mess on the floor gets cleaned up in one pass.
Because of this, you don’t really even have to do the deeper, more involved cleanings as often. You can keep your wood looking its best in between those times. Hardwood, in particular, has to be done regularly because if you let the dust and very small, gritty bits build up, they will eventually dull its shine. So essentially what the C28 and E28 do is a sort of maintenance cleaning, not a replacement for the more thorough jobs. Both of them do really well on tile, too. Since these surfaces take a lot of wear and tear and get a lot of drips and drops and sticky stuff on them, they end up needing a good cleaning.
But since they’re also quite easy going when it comes to how much water they can handle, the controlled amount of H2O from the E28 and C28 is perfect. You don’t have to worry about them making a mess, and they leave the floor nice and dry. They’ll work on most of the harder, non-porous floors. Finally, the kitchen can be the toughest test. There will always be some kind of spill or splatter from cooking, and with all the crumbs and the sticky stuff like a robot is really up against it.
